At Brevity Treatment Services, our team of master-level clinicians have years of experience helping individuals navigate life's challenges. We specialize in substance use assessments and are certified to provide services in Idaho, Washington, and Montana.
Our approach to assessments is rooted in client-centered interventions where empathy, compassion, and non-judgmental interactions are the focus.
We offer telehealth services and perform assessments for those in the community and incarcerated, those seeking to start treatment or those required by the courts. Weekend and evening appointments are available.
One thing that sets Brevity Treatment Services apart from other agencies is our ability to get clients seen quickly. Due to the nationwide provider shortage, some appointments are scheduled months out, which can increase an already stressful situation. At Brevity, we prioritize getting appointments set as quickly as possible to help facilitate legal and treatment needs.
Our services are completed 100% online. This decreases concerns regarding the need for transportation, geographic challenges, additional financial pressures, childcare needs, or other potential barriers. All services are HIPAA compliant.
Clinicians are required to be licensed in the state that the participant is physically located at time of the assessment. Clinicians are also required to be specially certified and/or licensed in that state based on the service being offered (mental health, substance use, or domestic violence). Our clinicians are certified in multiple states in various disciplines to allow expansive service availability of services.
-Idaho: Substance use, mental health, and domestic violence assessments
-Washington: Substance use and mental health
-Montana: Substance use
We understand that appointments can be a major barrier in one's work and personal life. As such, appointments outside of traditional work hours are often needed. To help accommodate this need, our clinicians offer after-hour and weekend appointments to help minimize the impact to an individual's daily routine.
At Brevity Treatment Services, we only do assessments. We believe this not only allows us to specialize in what we do but also assures clients that if treatment is recommended, it's for clinical reasons without an ulterior motive on our side. Some agencies who do both assessments and treatment will refer clients back to themselves for treatment whether it is needed by the client or not. This may be done to help increase the agency's treatment numbers, increase the amount of money coming in, maintain workloads of employees, or other reasons. At Brevity, we adhere to ASAM requirements by recommending the least restrictive level of care and what we clinically believe is in the best interests of the client. This gives the client unbiased, professional services with no underlying motivation to refer for treatment.
We currently work with BPA and accept private pay funding for all of our services. We plan to accept Idaho Magellan when their contract starts. Below are the starting prices for the assessments we offer based on a two-week report completion timeframe (expedited appointments and reports can be provided at increased costs):
The GAIN Assessment (Global Appraisal of Individual Needs) is a standardized substance use assessment. This assessment is generally mandated in ID if an individual has pled guilty or been found guilty of a felony charge. A GAIN assessment is often required for admittance into residential/inpatient treatment, or for drug court. A clinician must be specially trained and certified to administer this assessment, and it generally takes multiple hours to administer.
This is a drug and alcohol assessment that determines if any substance use treatment is recommended. This generally meets any court obligations (felony or misdemeanor, DUI charge), meets assessment requirements for individuals attempting to get into treatment (outpatient or intensive outpatient), or if an individual has been required to have an assessment by any other entity.
Domestic Violence (DV) Assessments are completed by clinicians certified by Idaho to provide this specialized evaluation. As mandated by regulations, assessors and treatment providers must be at different agencies to minimize undue influence on recommendations. Costs of services are set by the courts, but additional substance use criteria can be added at an additional cost.
Often mental health and substance use issues occur simultaneously, being identified as co-occurring. Most mental health concerns can be diagnosed by a mental health professional such as a counselor, or a provider who prescribes mental health medications. We generally do not offer stand-alone mental health evaluations, and recommend that you go to a mental health provider who specializes in this area.
If you have a court document that says you are ordered to have a specific "DUI evaluation" (generally exact wording), this is the name of a specific evaluation that focuses on your alcohol use. Although an individual's alcohol use is covered in a typical substance use evaluation, in a DUI evaluation, the judge typically requires a more in-depth legal history and requirements. If you are not sure if this specific assessment is needed, it is recommended that you contact your attorney to determine if you need a "DUI evaluation" or if a "substance use assessment" is sufficient". We do not offer DUI evaluation, but do provide a substance use assessment which is generally accepted by most judges.
